Celebrating Volunteerism & Fellowship
Tellico Village Kahite Women's Organization (a 501c3) is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote fellowship within the Kahite neighborhood and provide assistance to special projects in Monroe County, Tennessee.
Our organization annually attracts more than 100 members to join us in volunteer service, fundraising efforts, and fun activities.
- Our volunteers log thousands of volunteer hours annually.
- We have contributed more than $200,000 to Monroe County non-profits since our establishment in 2003.
- Our social activities have included events such as Smokies baseball games, swim and dock parties, neighborhood ice cream socials, all-Kahite picnics, holiday parties, various luncheons (UT Gardens, the Holy Land Market & Deli, Sweet P’s, etc.), Georgia’s Mercier Orchards, Fuhrman Glass Studio, Ashville’s Biltmore, Secret City Train ride and dinner. Our Social Committee is the best!
How Do You Join? Membership is available to all women who reside or own property in Tellico Village. Dues are $20 per year. Please attend one of our meetings and introduce yourself. We will gladly provide you with more information. (Meetings are typically the 4th Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Kahite Activity Center.)
In 2015 TVKWO’s Board focused on volunteerism, friendship, education, and a fun Pot of Gold fundraising approach which gave each member creativity in setting up fundraising details (event type, size, what, when, where, cost, organization supported, etc.) on their own. Pot of Gold events included parties for pumpkin carving, jewelry making, and cookie baking, a tea and fashion show, cooking and sailing lessons, sale of member-made shrugs/scarves and decorated gourds, dinners, luncheons, and movie nights.
Our monthly meetings also took on a program/theme approach, with many speakers enlightening us on topics such as herbs, local spiders and snakes, wellness and body inflammation, the American Revolution, and spring cleaning. We also got updates from area organizations—CASA, STAYinTV, Keep Monroe County Beautiful, New Opportunity School for Women, and Tellico Village University, to name a few.
In 2014 TVKWO’s May Home Tour and September Pro-Am Golf Tournament raised more than $20,000 in support of 17 Monroe County non-profit organizations. We couldn’t have achieved this without the many volunteer hours of our members and the generous support of participants and sponsors.
